1. RESTART PC/LAPTOP
Restart your device. If your computer hasn't been turned off in a while we recommend you restart your computer to start this troubleshooting. This will clear your computer's internal memory (RAM), and can often resolve many problems.
2. USE DIFFERENT BROWSER
AOL not sending emails can be cause by a browser that is not compatible or outdated. AOL Mail can be accessed from another browser if you're using an outdated or older browser such as Internet Explorer. If you don’t have an up-to-date or supported browser installed on you computer, you’ll need to download or update it.
3. CLEAR BROWSER CACHE
Clearing the browser cache is an important step to solve web problems. It's a soft reset that removes temporary files from the browser and allows it to replace them when needed. The hope is that the browser will eventually fix itself. This can be done in Chrome, for instance, by going to the More Menu (three vertical dots located at the top left corner) > More tools > Clear browsing data.
4. DISPLAY NAME ERROR
The outgoing mail will not go through if you have any combination with "AOL" in the display name. If your account was compromised recently, it is important to review your AOL Mail settings. Hackers will often change your name to make your account difficult to use even though it has been secured.
5. DISABLE POP-UP BLOCKING
Temporarily disable pop-up blocking software or browser add-ons and/or add AOL to the allow list. However, most browsers allow you to temporarily bypass pop-up blocking software by pressing Shift while you click on web site links.
6. DISABLE FIREWALL
The firewall stops hackers from accessing your computer online. This prevents them from infecting your computer with malware or stealing sensitive information. The firewall should be active all the time. However, it can be useful to temporarily turn it off if you need to diagnose the AOL not sending mails problem.
7. DISABLING PROTECTED MODE IN IE
Internet Explorer's protected mode is its version anti-virus program. It prevents malicious software taking root on your computer. It can also cause webmail and other browser programs to stop working, so it is worth turning it off. Go to the "Tools" menu > "Advanced" tab in your Internet Explorer and deactivate "Enable Enhanced Protected mode".
